Springtime rituals include putting my favorite inspirational message on the refrigerator. This message, penned by an unknown optimist, reads:
"It's impossible," said pride.
"It's risky," said experience.
"It's pointless," said reason.
"Give it a try," whispered the heart.
Let's go back in time a little ways. I have always enjoyed designing and crafting bars of soap. Every cranny in my house was filled with soaps I didn't know what to do with. Friends and family kept saying mine were some of the prettiest soaps they had ever seen and I should sell them.
At age 77, I could come up with more reasons not to start a new business than I had bars of soap wanting a home. Not enough life left to build a business. Not enough energy to do the required work. Not enough flexibility to solve the problems that would occur. The list went on and on.
But then there was the heart! And my heart whispered "give it a try!"
